As part of the continuation of iron ore extraction operations at the Gara Djebilet West mine, a blasting operation was carried out on the morning of Friday, December 26, 2025, by the National Iron and Steel Company FERAAL, a subsidiary of Sonarem Group (SONAREM), under the supervision of the National Office of Explosives (ONEX).
This operation, the first of its kind in terms of volume, was conducted under good conditions and in strict compliance with all rigorous safety and prevention measures, allowing the extraction of a volume exceeding 75,000 tonnes of iron ore.
This operation will be followed by other monthly blasting operations in order to increase iron ore stock levels, with a view to its processing and use in national steel complexes, in line with the program of the President of the Republic aimed at the local exploitation and valorization of mining resources.
On this occasion, special thanks were extended to the women and men of ONEX, as well as to the teams of ENG and FERAAL, for their spirit of teamwork and effective coordination that contributed to the success of this operation.
